I am a contemporary painter working in mixed media, Acrylics, Water-Colour, Gouache,
Inks, Water-Colour Pencil, Collage, Household Paints.......
The process of creating is every bit as much as important as the finished painting and I am
most content when I have a paint brush in my hand.
I have been painting since the mid 80's, and undertook a Fine Art Degree course at Derby
University in 1994. I have shown work in a number of small exhibitions, but have mostly
worked to commission. Whilst I do take on "formal" commissions from time to time, my
work is predominantly abstract/modern in style. I am happy to discuss any idea but will
only take it on if I feel I can do it justice, and will happily recommend fellow artists if I am
unable to meet your requirements. I have done a small amount of illustration work.
My influences and inspirations come from every aspect of life and are as varied as the
mediums in which I work. From sculpture, poetry, lines from a song, to the natural world,
the environment in which I live, people, and abstract concepts. I am currently working on
a series influenced by Stained glass windows, Mythology and Mandalas. These images
(gallery) originated as paintings to adorn furniture, jewellery boxes etc. and progressed
into paintings in 2006.
